synchronous tools

 “Will you consider including synchronous tools in your future EFL classroom in Saudi Arabia? Will there be any drawbacks?”

For answering this question, I think I will include this synchronous tools in my future class because this tools will help me in teaching my students the English language easily  and help them to improve their language skills by communicating with other people especially the foreigners. These tools will help them to gain the knowledge about  the language and will make the learning process easier and enjoyable. In my opinion, I do not think these synchronous tools have any drawbacks.

Writing assignment

Dear students, this is your writing assignment.

Write a paragraph of an important day in your life in your blog. Include the most important events that occurred during that day in the past simple. Once you have written the important events using the past simple, try to include a description of what was happening at some of the specific moments when those events occurred.

How would I use blogs, wikis and delicious with my EFL students.

In the future, I am going to be an English teacher Insha'Allah. So, I think I will use the Internet to make the learning easy and enjoyable for my students especially when we are going to use the social networks like, blogs, wikis and delicious.

First I can ask from my students to create an account on the blog. Second, they can use it if they want to write about their reflection about something or if I ask them to submit their writing assignment. Also, they can use it to write some exercises for each of the skills .

Also, they can use delicious by creating an account then to bookmark the favorite websites or the websites that help them and make it easy to them to learn English. Also, I think I am going to bookmark some articles that the students should read to help them in learning.

I can use wiki in teaching my students the writing skill. For instant, I can upload an exercise and they can use their wiki to answer or they can answer as a comments. Also, I can create reading comprehension exercises, some involving a short answer that they had to write online. I would then correct it and give feedback about their mistakes in the wiki, as well as the final score. Or use it for vocabulary and grammar exercises with the correct answers and feedback whenever they made a wrong choice to help them think again and correct themselves.

"Application of Bax Normilasation in Saudi Arabia: The how!"

Stephan Bax argues that, "Our aim should be to attain a state of `normalisation' in which the technology is invisible and truly integrated"

Bax suggested that to look at how an innovation comes to be accepted and effective in its new domain. He talked about the pen and the books and our idea about them. Pen and book are kind of technology that come apart of our daily life and they are completely integrated into education. On the other hand, CALL has not reached that normalised stage yet. CALL will be a part from language learning when it will ceases to exist as a separate concept and field for discussion. CALL practitioners should be aiming at their own extinction. He talks about the state that Call will reach when computers will used by language learners and teachers every day as a part of everyday lessons like a pen or book. In other word, course books, and notepads will go almost unnoticed. Computer Assisted language learning will be normalised when computers are treated as always secondary to learning itself, when the needs of learners will be carefully analyzed first of all, and then the computer used to serve those needs. At the end he  suggests,  to plan for this normalised state and then move towards it.

I think this normalization can apply in Saudi Arabia but not in the main time, because there are many changes of way of teaching. Computers are used recently in KSA in some schools to study and see the effect of technology in learning in general. So, I think we will need time to use computers in language learning. Also, I think we have to change the strategy and the way of learning to achieve this normalization.
